Every Single Day
For Type 1 diabetics, taking insulin EVERY SINGLE DAY is required for survival. Many Type 2 diabetics are insulin dependent also. Without this medication, they cannot live. Period.
In 2018, the average price of a single dose of Insulin in the US was $98.70. In Canada, this same dose was $12.
Pharmaceutical costs are beyond what too many Americans can afford even with insurance. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, about 1 in 5 Americans who have large employer coverage and are taking insulin, the costs for insulin ranges from $334 to $1,000 a month. For folks with smaller coverage, the costs are higher, and those without insurance are paying extremely high rates for medicine as necessary as the air we breathe for their survival.
Last week, Matt Rosendale voted AGAINST The Affordable Insulin Now Act which limits the cost of insulin to $35 per month for Americans with health insurance.
Life saving drugs like insulin need to be affordable for people with or without insurance. The Affordable Insulin Now Act is a step in the right direction. More needs to be done, but Rosendale proposes NOTHING to improve anything for anyone battling diabetes. His vote
against this bill continues to support high profits for pharmaceutical companies while Americans suffer.
