Protecting The Night Sky
The first piece of legislation I worked on and got passed was an ordinance for the City of Livingston protecting the night sky. In Montana, our night sky is as magnificent as our day sky! Artificial lighting not appropriately positioned can cause the beauty of the night sky to become lost in glare. Poorly positioned and inappropriate brightness of artificial light at night also negatively impacts migrating birds, plant life, and wildlife. IDSA was wonderful to work with and helped Livingston to create a more night sky friendly atmosphere! Helps to reduce energy costs too.
