The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act
The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 permanently designates March 29 observed as National Vietnam War Veterans Day because it was on this day in 1973 when combat and combat support units withdrew from South Vietnam.
To those who served in Vietnam, your service is recognized and honored with gratitude and respect. The sacrifices you and your families made are deserving of acknowledgement and recognition.
To those who did not return home, you are not forgotten. To those who battled illness upon return, we remember your continued fight and lessons you continued to bravely teach us. For all veterans, you have made a difference. We have a long way to go, but you have moved the progress so far.
Today, and all days, we honor the veterans of the Vietnam War.
